Weight Training For Women

A lot of women do not weight train and it’s extremely important for our health! Some women are intimidated and don’t know where to start (that’s what I’m here for) and others are afraid to look too “masculine.” Would I be lying if I said you wouldn’t gain muscle? Absolutely! But I would not be lying if I told you it’s a lot harder to get that “masculine” “bulky” look than you think! So with those two fears aside, let’s talk about why weight training is important for us!

Decrease chances of osteoporosis

    • Weight training is the best way to increase bone density, reducing risks of osteoporosis

      • the force of muscle pulling against bone is enough to stimulate bone growth even if the actual stress placed on the bone is modest.

    • Postmenopausal women have the highest risk of developing osteoporosis, so it’s important to combine strength training into workout programs.

      • Estrogen, a hormone in women that protects bones, decreases tremendously when women reach menopause, which can cause bone loss. This is why the chance of developing osteoporosis increases as women reach menopause.

Reduce Risk of heart failure

    • lowered blood pressure, lower cholesterol, better sleep, and lessened fat around the heart that are results of regular strength training.

    • resistance training at least twice a week to strengthen your heart and fight against various heart-related health issues.
